Wake Up With… Sam Wilson, Community Manager at LeBlanq
Cycling isn’t just about the miles. It’s about the people you meet along the way. That’s why we sat down with Sam Wilson, Community Manager at LeBlanq, to talk mornings, balance, and why the best rides are often the social ones.
And with our next Ride with LeBlanq at The Walled Garden happening on Sunday 5th October, there’s no better time to get inspired.
Morning Routine
How does a typical morning start for you? Any must-do rituals to set you up for the day ahead?
Most mornings start with coffee! I’ve recently got a proper barista machine so I’ve been becoming a bit obsessed with different beans and learning how to do latte art (still yet to create anything!).
And of course, my mornings wouldn’t be complete without my BAZ & CO skincare routine 😉.
Work-Life Balance
Now you’re working in the cycling world full-time, how do you make sure you keep the balance between your passion and your profession?
It’s important for me to use cycling as a form of escapism and catching up with friends. I mainly do this by having rides where we just chat and don’t focus on speed or numbers. My job is a lot of fun but it’s still important to ride for yourself and keep that bit of separation!
Cycling Journey
Can you tell us how you first got into cycling? Was there a defining moment that set you on this path?
I started cycling in lockdown! I’d owned a road bike for a couple of years but barely used it and didn’t think it was something I could ever be good at. But with lots of free time and flexibility, I was able to start getting out and exploring.
Industry Trends
What trends are you seeing emerge in the cycling community right now?
It’s great to see cycling being perceived as more “cool” and more people getting into it as a result. I love to see people giving cycling a go and falling in love with it once they realise how fantastic it is!
Favourite Ride
Do you have a favourite route or ride that you always come back to?
I’ve travelled a lot with my bike this year, so it’s tricky to pick just one. The French Alps were a standout – stunning bike paths and climbs. Girona is also a favourite of mine, where I rode with BAZ & CO’s founder James earlier this year! I also love exploring Scotland and riding on Perthshire roads when I’m home – there’s no place like it.
Starting Out
What advice would you give to someone who’s thinking about starting their cycling journey but might feel intimidated?
Just get out and ride! Whether it’s 10km or 50km, the best thing you can do is fit rides in when you can and get those miles under your belt. You’ll be amazed at how quickly your bike fitness improves. Find quiet local roads, ride with a friend, and remember – everyone starts somewhere.
Community Goals
What are your hopes and goals as LeBlanq’s Community Manager?
We love seeing the community grow and meeting more and more Joyriders! We’ve just announced our latest festival on the Isle of Wight in 2026 – a stunning place to ride, unwind and party. It’s also really accessible for UK riders without having to fly, which is important for us.
Why Ride with LeBlanq?
What would you say to someone who’s never been on a LeBlanq ride before? Why should they join?
I’d say come along to one of our laps events to meet us and see what we’re all about! We aren’t fussed about speed – it’s all about enjoyment and connecting with like-minded people. Sign up to our Strava club to see our community events and what we’ve got coming up next.
And if you’re local, come along to the BAZ & CO x LeBlanq ride at The Walled Garden this Sunday 5th October. Expect a social spin around the High Wycombe countryside, coffee and pastries on us, and the chance to try the full BAZ & CO skincare range.
